On the way to work this morning, I decided to put on a few different songs instead of the cd's I've been listening to religiously for months now. I put on an old one that brings back memories of me sitting in my dad's old truck reading entire books on the way to church and while waiting in the parking lot of restaurants... yet, amidst the trip down memory lane, a particular song struck a cord in my heart. Therefore... I'm going to share it. It has nothing to do with those memories, but other ones. from a recent trip to another country and the days i spend at work with some of my beloved friends...
for a time such as this
we've been born, we've been blessed
long before time began,
we were in the Father's plan
By His blood, by His will
He would see the dream fulfilled
By the blood of His own Son
We are free, we are one...
For the son far from home
for the child, who cries alone
for the life on the line
barely a man, too young to die
For a world such as this
Jesus dies, Jesus lives
Look around, see His face
the time is now, seize the day
So, while driving, my heart was reminded of the truth of the state of the world around me. People are lost, broken, struggling, weary, and all alone... and not just in third world countries. It seems hopeless... doesn't it?!? Yet, i have something more valuable than anything. I have salvation from my Savior. The Jesus that lives to heal the brokenness. I don't know about you, but i best be sharing that with people around me.
I have several friends who need to know and accept the free gift that God can give them... whether life seems great, or they are desperately falling and weary. how many people can you reach out to? how many hurting children cry alone? how many women have no person to talk to? and how many men are desperately searching for something more? reach out and touch them as Jesus did... i believe that we must do so. For, salvation is the greatest gift we could ever point someone to...
