I think blessings are overlooked.
I think joy is neglected.
I think faithfulness is tossed to the side.
I think diligence is ignored.
I think grace isn't given, mercy rejected, love forgotten.
We live in a sinful world with the prince of sin running around trying to make us believe that the above words aren't worth living for. He whispers lies, telling us we're not deserving or worthy or that we don't even want those things. It's not worth living for. He knows our old, sinful self. He knows what lies we believe and what appeals to our sinful nature. He knows where to corner us and when to encourage us. But, he's wrong.
Every. Single. Day.
We forget so easily. There's proof of that in the Bible. Why do you think God repeats principles over and over and over and in all different places? Because, we forget. We forget the past blessings of life and become dissatisfied with the present. We forget what it is to have joy and choose misery instead. We forget God's faithfulness and fail to be faithful. We forget how to talk and listen to God diligently and replace it wish useless things. We forget that God is grace and fail to give it to others. We forget His mercy, dealing out punishment wherever we can. And we forget His unfailing, undying, unyielding love for us. Instead, we feel alone, lost, and rejected.
Oh, but wait! Oh, but if we'd just choose to hold on! Jesus never fails. He is good. He blesses. He heals. He loves. He is faithful. He brings joy. He is merciful. He knows. He cares. He never forgets. He is home, hope, joy, shelter, strength, and so much more.
If only we'd STOP forgetting!
Instead of living life miserable, we can experience real joy and show Jesus to others.
Don't forget.
Don't stop living faithfully.
It's the only thing worth living for.
It's just Jesus.
Only Jesus.
