Sometimes the train derails (as my friend over at The Hidden Way so perfectly described).

Sometimes we have to do the hard things, like dentist appointments or doctor appointments. Sometimes the attitudes are big and the obeying is s-l-o-w. Sometimes the emotions are high and full and up to the brim, spilling over. And, there are tears from all directions and ages.

Basically, the train flies off the tracks and who knows where it's about to land. Sometimes it's a day and other times, it feels like a week. It doesn't always have to be catastrophic. Oftentimes, it's in the mundane moments, when we least expect it.

spilled juice.
crumbled goldfish.
grumpy faces.
reading lessons.
muddy pants.
overtired children.

But, everyone derails from time to time.

It's what we do with it that matters. on the not so catastrophic derailments, we just have to pick ourselves up and forge a new track. Sometimes it just requires a change of scenery, a listing of blessings, an adventure to find good things. Sometimes it means resting and settling down and being quiet.

On the catastrophic ones, it means leaning hard and picking up our faith and pressing on. it means finding Jesus in His Word and claiming His truths for our lives.

All the time, it means trusting and leaning on Jesus.

The days speed on, with just enough mercy. Abundant mercy. we have to CHOOSE to see the mercies, embrace them. Because, if we just looked up from the current derailment for a moment, we would see blessing in every direction. And, we might just be better at seeing the Kingdom.

Endure. Press on. Seize tomorrow's new mercies. And, chase after Jesus.

He's waiting. His plan is so much better than what we could even imagine.

even when the train derails, His faithfulness never changes.
