Patrick and I have been discussing Christmas when I go home. He's so cute. He really thinks that everyone forgets what Christmas is all about. And, I agree to an extent.
Christmas is my favorite time of year, and it's not because of the presents we all get. I love buyign and giving presents, I love being with family, and I love celebrating Jesus' birth. Now, I was wondering how I could apply all the gift giving and buying to the Christmas story. I began to think about the fact that Jesus is basically a gift. He became nothing so that we could have everything (that truly matters of course). Not only that, but the wisemen brought Jesus gifts a few years after He was born. That's another example of gift giving.
Christ's birth and the beginning of His ministry is the greatest gift. I can't help but think, by our gift giving, we show love, just as Christ did by coming in human form for us. We must not miss the real meaning of this season. It is crucial to our existance.
So, give gifts to show your love and don't forget who gave the Ultimate Gift.
