we get so busy. hurrying around like squirrels do while gathering their nuts.
but what if we slowed down and enjoyed the day?
what if we stopped long enough to see God's hand in orchestrating our day?
what if we lived every day instead of hurrying it away?
the past week, we have been mostly home. We have been enjoying each other while we learn and play and do all the house things. We haven't run needlessly every day. We have been purposeful at home. It all started with a small fever for Thea, but then it turned into a little hibernating week of bliss.
I catch myself saying "hurry up" all of the time. It's as if I think by hurrying, we can accomplish more. What's funny is that, when we hurry, we actually forget to love fully. We forget to embrace wholly. We forget to marvel consistently. We forget to pray continually.
Then, we get all out of whack. We prioritize the wrong things and let the things that matter slip down to the bottom. We forget that love isn't flashy, but can just be making breakfast sandwiches for our husband or playing a game with our children. It can be the smallest gesture for the little old lady in the grocery store who cant reach her favorite spreadable butter, or it can be some giant showing of grace. It's remembering that old or new friend who is sick. It's being polite and holding the door. When we hurry, we forget how to be like Jesus, because we're just too busy thinking about what we want or need to do.
What if Jesus works through us better when we leave the hurrying behind and embrace purposeful living? What if each day we were to slow down enough to be used for His kingdom?
He knows the plans for us. He knows the path. He knows the future.
so, instead of rushing, we should just be trusting and living and embracing our Savior.
