day dreamer

So, today, I could pretty much be tagged as a day dreamer. However, this is totally one of the last things I do. Especially with my personality! But, that's what I have been doing all day. I've doodled little stick figures and other things all over my paper. Then, when I'm not doodling, I've been thinking about my trip and a manejerie of other things. I was reading my Calvin and Hobbes book today too. Wow... way to get things done, Ashlee! Good thing all my assignments are done...

Anyway, so I was contemplating yesterday what to present to my girls last night for devos. God laid complaining and arguing on my heart. It has just seemed like everyone has decided that, if things don't go their way, it's time to grumble to their RA and everyone else. haha... So we took a look and Philippians 2:14-15. "Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation in which you shine like the stars in the universe." Now, I always loved this verse because my mother taught it to my youngest sister when she began to live a life of complaining at age 3. And, then I always liked it because it talked about shining as stars... However, it is now dearer to my heart. For, if I do things in obedience (by not complaining or arguing) I will become blameless, pure, and without fault! How we lose sight of obedience and righteousness when we just grumble! My baby brother is grasping the concept of thankfulness so well. I was talking to my mom yesterday and she ordered somethign at a drive through... as she was driving to the window, he asked her if she got him a root beer (he always gets root beer). She said, "oh no! I forgot." And, the graciousness of his character and little redeemed heart replied cheerfully, "Oh mom, that's okay. I'll be fine." Children often grasp elementary truths so much easier... we would do well to follow their examples...

I have approximately two-ish weeks left here at school! I'm so ready to be in the Dominican Republic.... and then at work with my kids and co-workers whom I have missed way too much! And, with my beautiful family. I love them so so much... Praise the Lord for summer.
